Divisional rival Utah Mammoth are reportedly set to part ways with award-winning goaltender Connor Ingram, a stunning move that could shake up the Colorado Avalanche's competition heading into the new NHL season.

Ingram was expected to suit up for the Mammoth in the 2025-26 season following his stint in the NHL's Player Assistance Program, but a new report indicates the team is preparing to move on from him instead.

Mammoth set to cut ties with star goaltender Connor Ingram.

Tom Banks from House of Hockey writes that the Mammoth appear to be building something special heading into the upcoming season, and with the goaltending tandem of Karel Vejmelka and Ingram, expectations are running high.
Ingram, recently cleared by the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program, was set to resume his role as the team's backup in their inaugural season under the Mammoth name.
"In a surprise move, reported by Cole Bagley, the Utah Mammoth are surprisingly set to move on from Ingram ahead of the new season, as Bagley reveals he will not attend training camp in order to find a new home for the 2025/26 campaign." -Banks
If the Mammoth can't find a trade partner for Ingram, he'll likely be placed on waivers before the regular season, and with several teams in need of goaltending, interest shouldn't be hard to come by.
"In 22 games played a season ago, the 28-year old posted a 3.21 GAA and an .882 save percentage, and now that he's cleared the Player Assistance Program, he is set to be a very reliable backup somewhere in the NHL this season." -Banks
According to Armstrong, the Mammoth will move forward with Vejmelka and Vitek Vanecek as their goaltending tandem this season. That leaves Ingram as the off man out, but with teams like Edmonton and Vegas searching for depth, he should have little trouble landing elsewhere.
