Brent Burns breaks silence on why he delayed retirement.
Remy Mastey from Yahoo Sports writes that Burns still has the drive to keep playing, with retirement not something he's considering at the moment.
Here's what Burns said after signing his contract with the Avalanche...
"I just love it. I love coming to the rink every day and working. It really is the best. There's a lot of different reasons ... obviously, the biggest one for me is there's still something to chase. I'm still super motivated for that and there's one big goal still." -Mastey
Though he's no longer the Norris Trophy-caliber blueliner of his prime, Burns has adjusted his game understands the role he must fill.
«The game's changed. I feel like every year, it's a little different. You play with different people; you pick up different things. You're always adapting, on and off the ice. That's part of what I enjoy, just trying to figure that stuff out and always trying to get better and keep playing.» -Mastey
Burns suited up in 246 games with the Hurricanes, tallying 34 goals, 99 assists, and 133 points while logging an average of 21:53 per night.
With his experience and determination, Burns is ready to make a meaningful impact with the Avalanche in the upcoming season.
