3 teams reportedly have contract offers for former Avalanche Cup champion

Reports suggest that longtime Colorado Avalanche defenseman and 2022 Stanley Cup champion Erik Johnson has attracted notable interest in free agency, with three teams already believed to have extended contract offers.
Johnson has already made it clear that he isn't ready to call it a career.

Jonathan Bailey from The Hockey News writes that according to Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports, 37-year-old defenseman currently has three professional tryout offers on the table and is expected to choose one in the near future.
Johnson, who was traded back to the Colorado Avalanche at the March 7 NHL trade deadline in a deal that sent Givani Smith to the Philadelphia Flyers, is not expected to return to Colorado.

Johnson was originally selected first overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, but in February 2011 he was dealt to Colorado in a blockbuster trade that sent him, Jay McClement, and a conditional first-round pick to the Avalanche in exchange for Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk, and a conditional second-rounder.
Johnson went on to spend the next 13 seasons in Colorado, ultimately hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2022 after the Avalanche's triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Since that championship run, he has suited up for the Buffalo Sabres and most recently, the Philadelphia Flyers.
Johnson has recorded 348 points (95 goals, 253 assists) across 1,023 NHL games. Now 37, if he secures a contract out of his tryout, it will almost certainly mark the final chapter of his NHL career.
