The NHL is about to have another pair of brothers, as the Colorado Avalanche have completed a move involving Cale Makar's brother, Taylor Makar.

Although Avalanche fans are going to have to wait a little bit to see him in action, today Colorado Avalanche's General Manager Chris MacFarland announced that the organization have officially signed Cale's brother, Taylor Makar to his NHL entry level contract.
Taylor's contract is only set to kick in during the 2025-26 regular season, so Avalanche fans are going to have to wait another year before they seem him and his brother in action together.
We have signed Taylor Makar to a one-year entry-level contract for the 2025-2026 season.
Unlike his brother, who is already a superstar in the league, Taylor Makar is a forward, and just spent a season with the University of Maine, having the best season of his career in the NCAA.
Taylor spent his first three seasons of his collegiate career playing for the University of Massachusetts Amherst, but was not seeing good success there and decided to make a change and go to the University of Maine.
During his only season with Maine, Makar ended up setting new career highs in goals with 18, assists with 12, and points with 30 in 38 games.
Cale Makar definitely played a big part in the Colorado Avalanche signing his brother, but Taylor definitely did himself a favour by having a outstanding year in his final season of collegiate hockey.

Did Taylor Makar Earn This Contract?

You will never see an NHL team hand out a contract to a player as a favour, so it's safe to say that Taylor Makar has definitely earned this honour, but it can be said that Cale Makar probably played a big role in it happening.
Makar was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche during the 7th round of the 2021 NHL Entry Level Draft with the 220th overall pick, and the organization along with fans are hoping that he can turn out to be somewhat like his brother.
