Denmark upsets Canada on Thursday by defeating them 2-1 in the quarter-finals at the IIHF World Championship.

This will mark the 10th meeting between these teams at the tournament, with Canada having won seven of the previous matchups.

Team Denmark was strengthened by the arrival of Nikolaj Ehlers, who joined the squad following the Winnipeg Jets' elimination from the Stanley Cup playoffs on Saturday.
Canada had no response for the Danes as they managed to only score one goal on Frederik Dichow who stood tall, stropping 39 of 40 shots to secure the win for Denmark.
Canada's lone goal came in 5 minutes into the third period when defenceman Travis Sanheim beat Dichow with a shot from the slot.
With just over two minutes remaining, Denmark pulled Bichow in favour of an extra attacker. The move paid off as Ehlers scored the equalizer, beating Canadian goaltender Jordan Binnington, igniting the home crowd.
Then, with only 49 seconds left of the clock, Nick Olesen netted the go-ahead goal, completing a stunning comeback and giving Denmark its first lead of the game.
Canada couldn't muster a response before time expired, bringing their medal hopes to an end as Denmark advances to the semifinal.
Canada was knocked out despite featuring several players from its championship lineup at this year's 4 Nation Face-Off, including captain Sidney Crosby, 2024 NHL MVP Nathan MacKinnon, and goaltender Jordan Binnington.
