NHL insider announces that a star Avalanche forward wants out of Colorado

Martin Necas was the centerpiece of the Colorado Avalanche's return in the shocking blockbuster trade that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes back in January.
But just over five months after the trade, NHL insider Nick Kypreos suggests that Necas may not be as committed to the Avalanche as initially thought.
NHL insider reports that a star Avalanche forward is done with Colorado.
Aarif Deen from Colorado Hockey Now writes that on Tuesday, Nick Kypreos dropped his first Trade Board on Sportsnet, and Necas was among the notable names to keep an eye on.
«After the Avalanche moved Rantanen because of how difficult they perceived contract extension talks to be going, how much patience will they have with Necas - not a homegrown player or superstar talent - if negotiations on an extension start slowly this July? There was a sense Necas wasn't overly thrilled with his experience in Colorado and that he wants to explore other options." -Kypreos
The fact that Necas "wasn't overly thrilled" with his stint in Colorado raises some major red flags, especially considering how underwhelmed Avalanche fans were with his playoff performance.
"This report is just an added element to an already intriguing situation. If Necas and the Avs can't agree to the framework of a deal - one that can't be signed until July 1 - then MacFarland should absolutely entertain the idea of trading him. The Avs can't afford to lose Necas for nothing in a year, nor should they allow this thing to linger like they did with Rantanen." -Deen
Dealing Rantanen was a seismic move for the Avalanche, but if Necas is already unhappy in Colorado, Avs GM Chris MacFarland may have no choice but to explore his options this summer.
Ideally, the Avalanche could flip Necas for a player who not only values the opportunity to play alongside Nathan MacKinnon, but also shows up when it matters most: the playoffs.
