Cale Makar delivered a sensational campaign for the Colorado Avalanche, surpassing the 30-goal mark and earning yet another Norris Trophy nomination for his elite on the blueline.

Makar once again stood out as a cornerstone for the Avalanche this past season, reaching new personal bests and raising the bar even further for what fans and analysts expect from him already stellar NHL career.

Latest report reveals shocking news concerning Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar.

Sean McKenna from Mile High Sticking writes that Makar's season was defined by his elite offensive output, becoming the first defenseman in 16 years to hit the 30-goal mark. While fans have come to expect his signature flair, reaching that milestone is a rare achievement, and it could very well earn him his second Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman later this month.
"Offensively, as already touched on, Makar is second to none in the league and is quickly rising to a projection of being mentioned with all-time greats. This season was his best yet." -McKenna

Makar appeared in a career-best 80 games this season, racking up 30 goals and 62 assists for a total of 92 points, leading all defenseman and ranking ninth overall in league scoring.
He posted a plus-28 rating, was on the ice for significantly more goals for than against, and set new personal bests with 12 power-play goals and two shorthanded tallies.
"The lone negative aspect of Makar's season was his playoff performance, and he's not alone there. Whenever a team has higher expectations than losing a first round series, there is plenty to look at, and it's usually looking at the star players initially." -McKenna

Makar wasn't at his usual elite level in the playoffs, managing just five points in seven games, including only one goal. The Avalanche were counting on more offensive impact from their star blueliner, but unfortunately, it didn't materialize when they needed it most.
"That shouldn't mar what was an unbelievable season overall that included many accomplishments. Career highs in many offensive categories highlighted this season, and although it ended too soon, Avs nation realizes they have a generational player on their roster." -MacKenna

Makar delivered everything you'd expect from a Norris Trophy-worthy campaign, and he's widely viewed as the frontrunner to take home the award. With his sights now set on the next season, he'll aim to help lead the Avalanche back to the Stanley Cup Final.
