According to recent reports, the Boston Bruins are reportedly prepared to make a major splash, willing to pay a premium price to acquire Colorado Avalanche star Martin Necas in what could become one of the biggest blockbuster deals.

Necas has reportedly been unhappy in Colorado since being traded from the Carolina Hurricanes in January of least season.

Bruins closing in on Martin Necas in a potential blockbuster deal.

Austin Sabourin from Bruins Insider writes that following a highly disappointing season for the Bruins, many expected general manager Don Sweeney to shake things up with bold moves aimed at sparking a turnaround.
"It doesn't look like that was the case as the biggest moves Sweeney ended up making was trading for Viktor Arvidsson, and signing Tanner Jeannot to a lengthy contract. Despite needing some secondary scoring, the Bruins signed 10 players during free agency, all of them being depth/bottom-six players." -Sabourin

On a recent episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shed light on the Bruins' approach. He explained that Boston is expected to have significant cap space next offseason, and suggested the team may be preparing to make some major moves when the time comes.
"Boston's going to have some cap flexibility; some of these guys who are supposed to be free agents next year, whether they get them or not...they want to take a shot at some of these guys." -Friedman
While next year's free agency class is loaded with star power, the Bruins may already have their sights set on specific player; one who could potentially reshape the direction of the franchise.
The Avalanche made waves early in the season by trading away Mikko Rantanen in a blockbuster deal that brought back Necas and other assets.
But once the season wrapped up, speculation quickly grew that Necas wasn't interested in committing to a long-term future in Colorado.
You have to wonder if the #NHLBruins have their eye on the Martin Necas situation in Colorado. He's one of the few guys in next year's stacked FA class that may actually get to market.
Now entering the year of his contract, there's a strong possibility Necas tests the open market when free agency rolls around next summer. If that happens, the Bruins are expected to be a serious contender in the chase for his services.
