According to a new report, the Colorado Avalanche are on the verge of a game-changing season, with the potential to disrupt the NHL standings and make a powerful statement across the league.

With the season opener set for October 7 against the Los Angeles Kings, anticipation is at an all-time high.

Latest report projects a promising season on the horizon for the Avalanche.

Evan Liu from Hockey Mountain High breaks down his prediction for the Avalanche's first 10 games of the 2025-26 season. Each game will go as follows...
Once again, Colorado will kick off the season on the road, just like they did against LA in 2023. They delivered a strong performance in that nationally televised matchup, and Liu expects a similar outcome this time resulting in a win.
"The Kings have taken a step down, particularly on the blue line. Nathan MacKinnon might have his way with the likes of Cody Ceci and Joel Edmundson in another 5-2 Opening Night win." -Liu

Following a brief road trip, the Avalanche will host the newly renamed Utah Mammoth for their home opener. Colorado has won six of their last eight home openers but dropped their most recent season opener at Ball Arena against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"Utah has gotten better, but I believe Colorado will want to send fans home happy to start the year. I think a big depth goal late will give them the edge over the visitors from the other side of the Rocky Mountains." -Liu

Dallas dominates the Central Division. Though Colorado will be eager for early revenge after their playoff loss, Liu expects the Stars to deal the Avalanche their first loss of the season.
Colorado's first afternoon matinee is set for a Monday in Buffalo. The Avalanche have historically gotten off to slow starts in afternoon games, especially last year at the KeyBank Center. Despite the sluggish start, they managed to rally and secure the win.
Despite Bowen Byram's new contract in Buffalo, the team remains the Sabres after all. Liu expects Colorado to leave Western New York victorious with an overtime winner.
"Despite escaping Buffalo with an overtime winner, an opposite fate lies ahead for the Avalanche in Columbus. The Blue Jackets will look to continue their climb up the standings, and a big overtime win over Colorado will help their case." -Liu

Boston will be hungry to bounce back after a disappointing eighth-place finish in the Atlantic Division last season. For Colorado, this marks a brief stop at home before heading back on the road.
It also signals the return of former Avalanche forward Casey Mittelstadt to Denver, and given the track record of ex-Avs scoring against their old team, don't be surprised if Mittelstadt plays the hero in a surprise Bruins win.
"The second matchup of the year against Utah comes on a short, quick flight over to Salt Lake City for the Avalanche. However, with Colorado on a slow stretch in this prediction, it continues with a loss in the matchup just a couple of weeks after the home-opener." -Liu

Colorado and Carolina have delivered some exciting matchups in recent years, especially at Ball Arena. The Hurricanes made a visit around the same point in last season's schedule, during a rough patch for the Avalanche, who had dropped four of their previous five games.
The Avalanche responded with a big win in that game, and Liu could see a similar outcome here to help get them back on track.
"Colorado heads back out East for its first back-to-back of the season in the reverse matchup against the Bruins. They'll wrap up their season series in a Saturday afternoon matchup. While it sounds like trouble for the Avs, I think they'll ride momentum from the Canes game and split the season series with a win at TD Garden." -Liu

The following afternoon in New Jersey, Liu writes that Colorado will stumble. The Devils have a strong roster, and with Jack Hughes eager to bounce back after missing the latter half of the season, they'll be a tough matchup. Still, even with this setback, the Avalanche would finish their first 10 games with a solid 5-4-1 record.
