A massive update has sent shockwaves through the Colorado Avalanche organization, coming just ahead of their highly anticipated preseason opener against the Utah Mammoth.

As part of the announcement, the Avalanche confirmed that both of Sunday's preseason games will be delayed.

Both of Colorado's opening preseason games against Utah will be delayed.

The game between the Avalanche and Mammoth at Magness Arena was supposed to start at 2:30 p.m.
Avs/Mammoth at DU is expected to start at 5 PM.

The late game at Ball Arena has been pushed back to 7:30 PM.
Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and Valeri Nuchushkin are among the star players who will be suiting up for the earlier game at DU.
Brock Nelson, Martin Necas, and Artturi Lehkonen are expected to play in the later game at Ball Arena.
Due to travel issues, today's National Hockey League preseason game between the Colorado Avalanche and Utah Mammoth at the University of Denver's Magness Arena will be delayed.
Injured players Taylor Makar, Mackenzie Blackwood, Samuel Girard, and Logan O'Connor obviously won't dress.
After Sunday's doubleheader, the Avalanche are expected to significantly trim their training camp roster in the coming days. Their next preseason game isn't until next Saturday, and only two of their six preseason matchups are away from Denver before they hit the road to Los Angeles for opening night against the Kings.
Avalanche hockey is officially back!
