A recent report delves into why Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon appears poised for the best season of his NHL career, highlighted his elite skill set, leadership role, and the team dynamics that could allow him to reach new heights.

MacKinnon's offseason training demonstrates that he's working harder than ever and leaving no stone unturned as he prepares for the upcoming NHL season.

Nathan MacKinnon poised for his best season yet.

Trent Finnegan from Denver Sports writes that Avalanche hockey is just over a month away, with preseason set to begin in a few short weeks. While no mandatory team sessions have started, players have already been participating in voluntary skates.
The sweaters are on and the ice is cold at the Family Sports Center, where MacKinnon has been putting in work with his teammates ahead of training camp. Unsurprisingly, he appears to be in midseason form, with hands as quick and precise as ever.
"Despite the fact that he's now heading into his 13th season as an NHL player with the Avalanche, the Dogg doesn't look like he's lost a step. His Canadian buddy Sidney Crosby set a career-high for games played in his 13th go-around and has followed it up with quite a few elite seasons, so don't think that Father Time is going to catch up to Mackinnon any time soon." -Finnegan

Thursday's session featured plenty of familiar and new faces, including newcomers Gavin Brindley and Brent Burns, as well as young star Taylor Makar.
Neither Martin Necas nor Valeri Nuchushkin were on the ice, but these skates are voluntary. MacKinnon didn't miss a beat without his usual first-line teammates, continuing to make play after play.
"Practice for the rookie tournament is set to kick off a week from today, with games scheduled to take place against Utah and Vegas on Friday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 14, respectively. Training camp is set to kick off on Thursday, Sept. 18, with the first preseason games taking place in split-squad fashion on Sunday, Sept. 21." -Finnegan

The Avalanche open their regular season on October 9, traveling west to face LA Kings.
