Latest development reveals that the Devils are reportedly eyeing Avalanche star in massive blockbuster deal

One potential avenue for the New Jersey Devils to strengthen their roster is by adding another top-six forward.
Among the trade options across the league, Colorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas emerges as a particularly strong fit for New Jersey.

Michael DeRosa from The Hockey News writes that Necas has been generating buzz in trade rumours, as the 26-year-old forward is heading into the final year of his contract.
Additionally, Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos recently reported that Necas "wasn't overly thrilled with this experience in Colorado" and is looking to "explore other options" moving forward.
"If the Avalanche do, in fact, shop Necas this off-season, the Devils would be wise to make a serious push for him. When looking at their current lineup, Necas would give them a significant upgrade over Ondrej Palat in their top six." -DeRosa
Necas could be a dynamic addition to the Devils' top line alongside star forwards Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. His offensive talent would also make him a significant asset on the power play, boosting New Jersey's scoring threat.
"Necas had a marvelous season split between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Avalanche in 2024-25. In 79 games, he scored 27 goals and set new career highs with 56 assists and 83 points." -DeRosa
