Iconic seasons are rare, particularly when reflecting on the most recent campaign for one standout Pacific Division squad in the AHL.

In just his second year as head coach, Aaron Schneekloth guided the 2024-25 Colorado Eagles on a remarkable journey, culminating in the franchise's first-ever title at the AHL level, and achievement that some might describe as storybook.

Schneekloth could be on his way out of Colorado.

Bailey Curtis from Yahoo Sports writes that on top of their remarkable season , Schneekloth and the Eagles had the honour of welcoming Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog for his first professional game back since a difficult injury sidelined him in 2022.
"That's about as legendary as it gets, and now he might be rewarded for the hard work that he's put in with a coaching job in the big leagues." -Curtis

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported on Sunday's episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast that Schneekloth is expected to join the Seattle Kraken's coaching staff as an assistant coach.
"I think one of [the assistant coaches] will be Aaron Schneekloth, who was the coach of the AHL's Colorado Eagles this year. He is a Calgarian, south of where I am currently located in Edmonton. So, I've heard that he's gonna be one of the people joining the staff there." -Friedman

Assuming an official announcement is imminent in the next week or two, the Eagles will need to begin their search for a new head coach right away. It remains unclear whether the organization will prioritize internal candidates or look outside for Schneekloth's replacement.
"This move may be an interesting one, considering the Avalanche front office is still searching to fill their assistant coaching vacancy after they relieved Ray Bennett of his duties. Bennett coached the Avalanche's power play units and was promptly relieved from his position as assistant coach following the team's poor performance on the man-advantage during their round 1 series against the Dallas Stars in this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs." -Curtis

No matter who takes over, they'll have big shoes to fill after what was undeniably the most successful season in Eagles history.
