Former Colorado Avalanche forward Kevin Porter has made history by guiding Team USA to a Hlinka Gretzky Cup championship as their head coach.
Team USA claimed the Hlinka Gretzky Cup championship on Saturday, defeating Team Sweden 5-3 in a thrilling final.

Aarif Deen from Colorado Hockey Now, Porter captured the Hobey Baker Award with the Michigan Wolverines in 2007-08 following a stellar senior season with 33 goals and 63 points. He later signed an entry-level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes, where he played parts of two seasons.

Porter enjoyed his best NHL seasons in 2010-11 with the Avalanche, tallying 14 goals and 11 assists across 74 games. His three-year stint in Colorado accounted for 35 of his 58 career points.
"He retired as a player following the 2016-17 season and transitioned into coaching. The 39-year-old Northville, Michigan native spent four years as an AHL assistant coach in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization from 2020-2024 before landing the USA Hockey gig." -Deen
The Hlinka Gretzky Cup is an annual under-18 international hockey tournament, widely regarded as a showcase for the game's top up-and-coming prospects.
Porter's performance highlighted his dedication and leadership to the game, giving fans plenty to admire as he continues his hockey coaching journey.
