Forward Jonathan Drouin has inked a two-year deal with the New York Islanders.
Fans were already under the impression that Drouin was not re-signing with the Avalanche after completing his second season with the team.

Sources report that Drouin's deal carries a two-year AAV of $2 million.
Drouin, 30, tallied 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 43 games with the Avalanche last season. the 11-year NHL veteran missed time early due to an injury but rebounded after the Four Nations break, posting 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in his final 19 games. He also chipped in 3 assists over seven games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"A native of Ste-Agathe, QC, Drouin scored a career-high 56 points (19 goals and 37 assists) in 79 games with the Avalanche in 2023-24, ranking fourth on the team in scoring. In 607 career NHL games with Colorado, the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, Drouin has 374 points (107 goals and 267 assists). He's added 27 points (six goals and 21 assists) in 43 career Stanley Cup Playoff games." -NHL.com
Chosen third overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Drouin spent three seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL from 2011 to 2014. He racked up 242 points (77 goals, 165 assists) in 128 regular-season games, along with 102 points (34 goals, 68 assists) in 50 playoff appearances.
"Internationally, Drouin represented Team Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2013 and 2014. He served as an alternate captain in the 2014 tournament, recording nine points (3goals and 6 assists) in seven games to finish second on the team in points and tied for first in assists." -NHL.com
Drouin also represented Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey recording one goal in three games.
