A new report has revealed which player the Colorado Avalanche divisional rival Minnesota Wild are targeting in a potential blockbuster trade involving Kirill Kaprizov, sending shockwaves through the NHL trade rumours landscape.
Kaprizov has reportedly turned down a $128 million contract offer from the Wild.

Gabriel Sami from All Habs writes that a potential trade between the Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild is fuelling intense discussion about Kirill Kaprizov.
On the Shaun Starr Show, Marco D'Amico noted that the likelihood of Kirill Kaprizov being traded to Montreal is extremely low.
"The price for Kirill Kaprizov would go through Ivan Demidov according to Marco D'Amico." -Sami
D'Amico added that any trade talks would likely begin with Demidov. The young Russian prospect, regarded as one of the top talents of his generation, is the player the Wild would seek in exchange for their star forward.
"The chances are extremely slim and when he spoke about the price, he named one name: Ivan Demidov. Because that's the player who would be in the Wild's sights to send Kaprizov to Montreal." -Forget

Trading Demidov, already viewed by many as the team's future cornerstone, would fly in the face of Montreal's rebuilding plan. In fact, it seems almost impossible for the Habs to make such a move.
"The organization's respect for this young talent is immense, and it would be difficult to imagine the Canadiens sacrificing such a prospect." -Forget
Even though Kaprizov is an elite talent, Demidov represents too much of the Canadiens' future to be traded.
