Fresh details have emerged regarding a major contract update for Minnesota Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov, a player long seen as a thorn in the side of the Colorado Avalanche.

Kaprizov is on his way to a record-breaking payday, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli.

Massive contract plans for Kirill Kaprizov revealed.

Billy Heyen from The Sporting News writes that NHL insider Frank Seravalli is projecting Kaprizov to sign a massive eight-year, $120 million extension with the Minnesota Wild, a deal that would make him the NHL's highest-paid player by annual salary, just edging out Edmonton Oilers' star Leon Draisaitl.
"The expectation is then that Edmonton star Connor McDavid would get an even bigger contract, but that's still to be determined." -Heyen

Despite being limited to just 41 games last season, 28-year-old Russian winger Kaprizov still tallied an impressive 25 goals and 31 assists.
Kaprizov has racked up 185 goals and 201 assists through just 319 career NHL games, a remarkable pace for any player. Drafted in the fifth round back in 2015, the Wild struck gold with that pick.
Since making the jump to North America, Kaprizov has spent five seasons with the team and has averaged over a point per game in each of the last four. Widely regarded as one of the league's elite talents, he's not on the verge of landing contract that reflects that status.
Kaprizov's best season came in 2021-22, when he set franchise records with 47 goals, 61 assists, and 108 points in just 81 games, firmly establishing himself as one of the NHL's greatest players.
