The Colorado Avalanche must decide by June 1 whether to sign a 2022 seventh-round pick Maros Jedlicka to the Eagles or allow him to enter unrestricted free agency.

The Avalanche must choose whether to offer Jedlicka an entry-level contract or forfeit his NHL rights entirely.

Graham Tiedtke fromMile High Sticking writes that
PuckPedia breaks in down clearly by stating: each year, certain players will lose their rights if not signed to an entry-level contract in time. Jedlicka falls into the category of players drafted in 2023 from European leagues who were 20 years or older at the time.
Graham Tiedtke fromMile High Sticking writes that Jedlicka, who turns 23 on October 23rd, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. During the 2024-25 season with the Eagles, he appeared in only 18 games, tallying three goals and two assists. Before that, he played 12 games with Brno Kometa, recording just two assists.
"It is not often a seventh-round pick is going to make an impact on the team that drafts him. While Jedlicka hasn't exactly been impressive, not all of it is his fault. Injuries suck. They're a big part in what makes or breaks a player's chances of having a successful career, no matter what sport. He just can't seem to shake the injury bug." -Tiedtke

Jedlicka took part in the World Juniors U-20 Chmapionship in both 2001 and 2022 but went scoreless across all nine games he played.

In October 2023, he sustained a significant shoulder injury that sidelines him for several months. At the time, it was evident that it would be an uphill battle for Jedlicka to carve out a future with the Avalanche.

Now, with the decision deadline approaching, it would be surprising if he remained in the team's plans. While there's a chance he could catch on with another organization, he'll need to show he can stay healthy over a longer stretch to have any real shot.
