Mackenzie Blackwood, the Colorado Avalanche's newest starting goalie, passes Jonathan Bernier in franchise playoff games played.
Mackenzie Blackwood has only played with the Colorado Avalanche for a short period of time (only 37 regular-season games) after being traded here from San Jose.
But the goalie is already surpassing former goalies, who came before him, as he passes Jonathan Bernier during last nights Game 5 against the Dallas Stars.
He'll have played in his 5th playoff game for the Colorado
Avalanche, and will take the 14th spot on the goalie leaderboard for franchise playoff games played, ahead of Bernier.
Unfortunately the team fell short as they loss 6-2 on Monday night, after Game 4's shutout against the Stars, saving 23 of 23 shots on goal, and leaving the ice cold-blooded with a 1.00 save percentage.
Blackwood would remain humble in an interview afterward, post-shutout:
«You don't really care about [the shutout],» Blackwood said after Game 4. «You just want to win the game. It's more just an individual accolade, it doesn't really mean that much.»
It all comes down to whether or not he can get the support he needs in the offensive and defensive zones on the ice.
The Avalanche has a deep enough lineup that it shouldn't be a concern for Blackwood or Jared Bednar.
Regardless, the Avalanche head back on to home ice where they will look to tie the series at 3-3 and force Game-Seven of the series.
