Colorado Avalanche face critical decision with captain Gabriel Landeskog ahead of Game-one of playoffs

Just recently the Avalanche organization confirmed that their captain will rejoin the team after spending most of last week with the Colorado Eagles on a conditioning loan.

Landeskog looks like he is ready to join the Colorado Avalanche for their upcoming playoff run, but has not played an NHL game since June of 2022.

Since suffering his knee injury, he underwent three surgeries, one including having a cartilage transplant in May of 2023.

Due to him being on long-term injury reserve while he was recovering, the Avalanche were able to assign him on a conditioning loan in the AHL, which was cut short as the organization believes he's ready to rejoin the team.

On April 11th, Landeskog ended up playing in his first professional game in almost three years. During his second game he would pick up two points, a goal and an assist.

Recent reports confirm that the Avalanche will be facing the Dallas stars on the opening day of playoffs, April 19th. For their first postseason game.

Along with other reports stating that the Colorado Avalanche will be playing their first postseason game against the Dallas Stars this Saturday at 8:00PM CT, or 6:00PM MT.

But now, the Avalanche face a tough decision, that decision being whether or not they want to play him for game one or to give him more time to get ready and play him for game three, which would be his first game back on home ice.

Either way his return is inevitable at this point, and he will return for the Avalanche's first round of playoffs against the Stars.
