Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has publicly called out Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup hero Alex Newhook in a shocking turn of events that has fans buzzing.
TSN's Eric Macramalla shared extensive thoughts on the trade between the Canadiens and Avalanche that involved Newhook.

Elias Edmonson from Habs Fanatics writes that in Macramalla's view, Canadiens GM Hughes surrendered a first-round pick, plus a second-rounder, in exchange for what he sees as nothing more than a fourth-line player.
While speaking on Shaun Starr's podcast, Macramalla had some harsh words for Newhook.
Eric Macramalla would put him on a fourth line. In fact, he said on The Shaun Starr Show that he's a fourth-line player.
According to another TSN Analyst, Newhook is a turnover machine, often at the worst possible moments, and would be far less harmful in a fourth-line role.
"When you think about it, we're talking about a player who actually cost the Canadiens first- and second-round draft picks in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche. It's not one of Kent Hughes' best trades, though there seemed to be some potential." -Edmonson
It's tough to find a role for Newhook, he's not quite a top-six forward, but he also lacks the grit needed for a fourth-line role.
Do you still believe Newhook can develop into a regular and effective top-six forward for the Canadiens? As of now, it looks like the Avalanche clearly won that trade, but he's still young and has plenty of time to prove himself.
