Avalanche Stanley Cup hero turns heads with stunning off-ice revelation

Abby Newhook followed in her brothers Alex's footstep by achieving her pro hockey dream, getting drafted by the Boston Fleet in the PWHL draft.
A little over six years ago, Abby sat next to her brother Alex at the 2019 NHL Draft, imagining what it would be like to experience a moment like that for herself.
Newhook siblings make hockey history.
Chris Lomon from the NHLPA writes at 16 years old, Abby vividly remembers what was going through her mind as she sat with the entire Newhook family at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, watching Alex get selected 16th overall by the Colorado Avalanche.
«When I was sitting in those stands, I kept thinking, 'Wouldn't it be great if we had this for women's hockey?' Being at Alex's draft and seeing everything he went through and dreaming of something like that for the women's side the fact it became a reality is just amazing. On June 24, Abby was selected 34th overall by the Boston Fleet in the PWHL Draft.
The moment was surreal for her, as he became only the second player from Newfoundland and Labrador to be drafted into the PWHL, joining Maggie Connors of the Toronto Sceptres.

Alex, 24, now a member of the Montreal Canadiens, was among the first to congratulate his sister when her name was announced.

Abby, who earned Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year honours in 2021-22 and was a finalist for the WCHA National Rookie of the Year, was overjoyed to share her special day with her brother.
