The Colorado Avalanche have ignited controversy with their latest round of roster cuts, announced in the wake of Sunday's opening preseason games against the Utah Mammoth, leaving fans and analysts debating the team's early preseason lineup decisions.
Aarif Deen from Colorado Hockey Now writes that the Avalanche re-assigned Christian Humphreys to the OHL's Kitchener Rangers, while Max Curran (Edmonton, WHL) and Linus Funck (London, OHL) were returned to their junior teams to continue their rehabs.

The Avalanche's impressive back-to-back preseason victories over the Utah Mammoth this past weekend have not only showcased the team's depth and potential but also sparked major expectations that this could be the beginning of a highly promising season ahead.
With 5-1 and 3-2 wins, the Avalanche completed the weekend sweep. Standouts included Gavin Brindley, who scored twice; Tristen Nielsen, who quietly proved his value; Necas showing that he doesn't need Nathan MacKinnon to produce; and Landeskog, who demonstrated why he's one of the best captains in the NHL.
The Avalanche now have faced 51 players on their camp roster and will return to the ice Tuesday for another two-group session at the Family Sports Center, beginning at 9 a.m.
Another round of cuts are expected later this week.
The Avalanche are back in action on Saturday as they continue their preseason schedule against the Dallas Stars.
