The Colorado Avalanche locked in center T.J. Tynan and defenseman Jack Ahcan with one-year deals on Tuesday.

Both players will likely spend next season the AHL Colorado Eagles.

Avalanche stay busy in free agency by signing a couple of prospects.

According to Ben Steiner from the Daily Faceoff, Tynan, 33 remains in his second stint with the Avalanche after rejoining the team during the 2023-24 season, following a 16-game stretch with Colorado in 2019-20.
Across his career, Tynan has appeared in 30 NHL games with the Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, and LA Kings organizations, recording two assists while spending most of his time with their AHL affiliate.
"In 2024-25, he scored eight goals and 49 points in 52 games with the AHL Colorado Eagles, leading the team in assists, before adding another two helpers in the Calder Cup Playoffs. He also skated in nine games with the Avalanche, scoring his second NHL point in November against the Nashville Predators." -Steiner

Ahcan, 28, is coming off a strong season with the Eagles, where he posted five goals and 41 points. His assist total led all team defenseman and earned a late-season call up to the Avalanche, his first NHL action since the 2021-22 campaign.
"Previously, Achan played with the Boston Bruins and has one NHL goal in 10 regular-season games, highlighting his resume beyond the 23 goals and 148 points from his 272 AHL regular-season contests. A native of Savage, Minnesota, Ahcan joined the Bruins after four seasons of NCAA hockey with St. Cloud State, jumping up into NHL games after playing two games with the ECHL's Jacksonville Icemen." -Steiner

After reaching the third round of the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs, the Colorado Eagles will aim to build on that success next season. Meanwhile, the Avalanche continue to retool at the NHL level as they look to improve on their third-place finish in the Central Division during the 2024-25 campaign.
