Avalanche linked to a pair of Penguins veterans.
Kevin Allen from Detroit Hockey Now writes that Sportsnet's latest instalment in their projecting likely trade destinations names the Avalanche among five potential spots for Pittsburgh forwards
Bryan Rust and
Rickard Rakell.
"The Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and the Buffalo Sabres are the other four possible destinations." -Allen
Both players are connected to Colorado as the Avalanche seek to boost their secondary scoring. Rust tallied 31 goals last season, while Swedish forward Rakell contributed 35.
Here's what Sportsnet's Sonny Sachdeva had to say about the possibility of Pittsburgh dealing both Rust and Rakell before the start of next season.
«Neither forward figures to be a long-term solution for clubs hoping to bolster their offensive groups, each already over 30 and likely to slow down over the next few seasons. But both proved just last season that they can still hang, Rakell coming off a career-best 70-point season and Rust coming off a career-best 65-point season - both accomplished while playing for a woeful Penguins squad.» -Sachdeva
Perhaps, bringing in a couple more NHL ready forwards will help this Avalanche team get to the next level.
Based on all the trade rumours surrounding the Avalanche, It seems like another move will likely be made by GM Chris MacFarland before the start of next season.
