Free agent Victor Olofsson made the headlines today as the Swedish winger signed a one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche. While the Avalanche had growing concerns over their depth of the bottom six forwards, it seems they resolved some of it after a quiet NHL offseason.

While the issue is not fully resolved, it is definitely a step in the right direction for the Avalanche.

Victor Olofsson answers Avalanche fans' prayers with new signing.

Jacob Walters of Vegas Hockey Knight broke the news of the Colorado Avalanche's acquisition of forward Victor Olofsson.
"According to Puckpedia, the Colorado Avalanche are taking that one-year flyer on Olofsson, using him to bolster their lower lines. There's a good reason for that, too. Last season, the winger scored 15 goals and 14 assists with the Golden Knights. Six goals and two assists came on the second-best power play in the NHL (28.3%), making him an integral part of the unit." -Walters

We have all been discussing over the past couple months how in desperate need the Avalanche are in some forward depth on the bottom-six. Olofsson fills that role perfectly. He gives that little extra push on offence while minimizing mistakes on defence. He can also help take pressure off the first power play unit.
"He proved he could still play at a high level in Vegas, adding scoring in multiple facets. Avalanche fans can expect more of the same while Olofsson is sticking around the Rocky Mountains and getting that 'mile high' air. A hard shot and sniping acumen will make him a good fit on a thriving Colorado attack." -Walters

Avalanche fans can finally relax a little, they found their missing piece. While it does not complete the entire puzzle on the bottom-six, it's definitely a big step forward in the right direction.

Should the Avalanche still try to find one more bottom-six forward before the start of next NHL season?
