Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog has once again found himself in the spotlight, with a shocking on-ice revelation raising new questions as he continues his determined push to return to full strength ahead of the upcoming NHL season.
Gabriel Landeskog making headlines on his road to recovery ahead of next season.
Avalanche insider Brennan Vogt reports that Landeskog was spotted in Denver putting in some extra work ahead of next season.
Landeskog has to be arguably the most highly anticipated injury return in recent memory for the Avalanche.
Vogt had this to say following Landeskog's first on-ice appearance of the offseason.
It has been all good things from Landeskog. There has been no hindrance to his mobility at all. He even has gone down to a knee to take a shot. The Nelson and Landeskog chemistry is showing and could be part of a great line for the Avs.
Fans greeted Landeskog with overwhelming joy and emotion. His journey began with a knee injury sustained during a game against Dallas in the Edmonton Bubble, when teammate
Cale Makar's skate blade accidentally cut his leg.
Just in time for this year's playoffs, Landeskog returned to the Avalanche after a lengthy battle with a serious knee injury. He quickly made his presence felt, recording four points in four games while averaging 16 minutes of ice time, before the Avalanche were ultimately eliminated after blowing a two goal lead in Game 7 against the Dallas Stars.
It had been 1,041 days since the Avalanche captain scored a goal in the NHL, but in Game 4 of the first-round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Dallas Stars, Landeskog broke that streak.
As Landeskog aims to return to full form next season, it's encouraging to see the veteran already putting in the work to make it happen.
