Three Takeaways From The Colorado Avalanche's 4-3 Loss To The Dallas Stars

The Colorado Avalanche had a huge first game against the Dallas Stars. Even just splitting the series on the road is huge as it's much easier to win games in your own building, if the Avalanche would've been able to take both games in Dallas it would have went a lot farther for them.
All eyes were on Gabriel Landeskog before puck dropped for game two as there was many conflicting reports on whether or not he was going to be playing. At first it was reported that he was going to be in the lineup, and then not long after it got changed to him not being in the lineup.
It's been flip-flopped. Landeskog is now scratched with Wood in the lineup.
Three Takeaways
Blackwood was solid once again for the Avalanche. Even though he gave up 4 goals, if the Avalanche did not have him, the game would've finished before overtime. It's become very apparent for the Colorado Avalanche that Blackwood is going to be key for them if they want to go anywhere.
Blackwood isn't going to be able to steal every game for the Avalanche. The team in front is going to have to be much better.
Manage The Middle Of The Ice Better
The Dallas Stars have been owning the middle of the ice, and most of their goals have been coming from there. They are making it so Blackwood can't see, and are taking advantage of it.
The Avalanche have had a hard time with net front defense this year, and it's something they are going to have to clean up if they want a chance at beating the Stars this year.
Need More Out Of Non Star Players
Nathan MacKinnon has been amazing for the Avalanche so far, having three goals and an assist in two games, but no other lines has been performing for them. You can't just rely on MacKinnon the entire time.
They are going to need more out of players like Valeri Nichushkin, Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle and other key players.
