According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic, the Colorado Avalanche are sending center Charlie Coyle to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shocking blockbuster trade.

Coyle, 33, is entering the final season of his contract, which carries a $5.25 million cap hit.

Coyle gets dealt to the Blue Jackets.

Aarif Deen from Colorado Hockey Now writes that Coyle was acquired by the Avalanche at the March 7 trade deadline in a deal that saw Casey Mittelstadt, prospect Will Zellers, and a second-round pick sent to Boston.
"Coyle finished the regular season strong after a slow offensive start with the Avs. He had two goals and 13 points in 19 regular-season games before scoring just one goal in a seven-game series loss to the Dallas Stars." -Deen

The Avalanche signed Brock Nelson to a $7.5 million deal earlier this month to anchor the second line center position, making Coyle's salary likely too costly to justify. Prior to the trade, Colorado had only $1.2 million in cap space remaining and still needed to fill several roster spots.
During his seven seasons with the Bruins, Coyle appeared in 452 games, tallying 96 goals, 134 assists, and 230 points, along with a +10 rating.
Coyle's name resurfaced in trade rumors shortly after the Avalanche were knocked out of the playoffs. Now, the Massachusetts native is officially on the move again and will aim to make a significant impact with the Blue Jackets moving forward.
More details on the trade to follow shortly.
