A shocking trade proposal has emerged that could send Colorado Avalanche star forward Valeri Nichushkin to the Detroit Red Wings in a blockbuster deal, leaving fans and analysts buzzing across the NHL.
Nichushkin remains a polarizing figure among fans; some want him back with the Colorado Avalanche, while others are ready to move on from the Russian fixture.

Cole Shelton from Heavy.com writes that the Red Wings are in need of additional offensive firepower and would likely benefit from exploring the trade market to acquire a game-changing forward.
"The proposed deal would be a blockbuster as Detroit would acquire Nichushkin to bolster their offense for a good NHL forward and a first-round pick. Colorado also clears some much-needed cap space in the deal.

Detroit would acquire Nichushkin, entering the fourth year of his eight-year, $49 million deal, adding top-line offense after posting 34 points in 43 games. The Red Wings would also receive Colorado's fifth-round pick to balance the trade.
Berggren, on the other hand, could fill the offensive void left by Nichushkin. Last season, he tallied 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 75 games.

With the Red Wings enduring a nine-year playoff drought, taking a chance on Nichushkin could be worth it. He can slot into the top line and provide the team with another pure goal scorer, something they desperately need.
