A recent article just revealed NHL insider Chris Johnston's shocking twist for the Colorado Avalanche's offseason roster plans.

The Avalanche's quest for another Stanley Cup came up short again this past season, ending with a first-round playoff exit in the hands of the Dallas Stars.

Insider reveals what's next for the Avalanche.

Matt Levine from Athlon Sports writes that following this result, the front office began the offseason focused on bolstering the roster with additional talent. While Colorado boasts a strong core, it's been several years since the team was a serious contender for the championship.
"After winning the championship in the 2021-22 season, the Avalanche have fallen off a bit. But this offseason could be very different, even though the team hasn't done all that much so far." -Levine

NHL insider Chris Johnston recently suggested that the Avalanche could still make additions to their roster. On a recent episode of the Chris Johnston Show, he predicted that Colorado would remain active in bringing in more players this offseason.
"It feels like there's an incompletion feeling to that Avalanche roster; it feels like...they're gonna be still busy this offseason trying to find some upgrades." -Johnston
The front office faces a significant challenge, particularly after trading away star Mikko Rantanen. Without a proper replacement for Rantanen, the team's shortcomings were exposed during the postseason.
"While it remains to be seen what the Avalanche will do throughout the remainder of the offseason, the team could look to add more defense. Colorado could use some help on the defensive side of the ice, especially with all the trade rumors around star Martin Nečas." -Levine

Colorado appears poised to keep Necas for now, despite interest from several teams. Regardless, the Avalanche still have roster work ahead, and if they start the season with the current lineup, their chances of contending look slim.
