Shocking report shakes up the NHL future of Vegas Golden Knights superstar Jack Eichel, a major concern for the Colorado Avalanche's divisional rival.
Eichel is heading into the final season of his deal, putting pressure on Vegas to lock him up for the future.

Matt Levine from Athlon Sports writes that after locking up Mitch Marner with a blockbuster deal this summer, the Golden Knights are already preparing for their next massive contract decision.
"There has been some speculation that Eichel could leave town, but it seems that Eichel may not let that happen. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Eichel may be waiting to see how the market shakes out before re-signing with the Golden Knights." -Levine
Eichel has long been among the NHL's elite, and the Golden Knights will rely on him as they chase another Stanley Cup. In 77 games last season, he racked up 28 goals and 66 assists, cementing his role as Vegas' offensive engine.

That lines up with that Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon made clear earlier this offseason, he has no intentions of letting Eichel test free agency next summer.

As long as Vegas meets Eichel's price, this partnership looks built to last. Losing him isn't an option, the Golden Knights simply can't afford the setback.
