A newly released report highlights a significant career development involving one of the Colorado Avalanche's most highly regarded young goaltending prospects, Trent Miner.

Since being selected by the Avalanche in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Miner has steadily progressed in his development and continued to grow within the organization's system.

Avalanche prospect Trent Miner rocked with big career update.

Jess Shelton from Mile High Hockey writes that since being drafted, Miner has spent the bulk of his development time with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL and the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL before finally breaking through to make his NHL debut with the Avalanche this past season, which even included his first career start.
Over that span, he has shown steady growth and refinement in his game, progress that has now earned him a one-year contract extension and the role of the organization's third goaltending. Thanks to that development, Miner has climbed significantly in our prospect rankings this year, jumping from #15 to just outside the top five.
"This upcoming season, Miner will probably be the first call-up option as a goaltender for the Avs when they're in a pinch, just like he was for them this past season.

Colorado's goaltending duo is already set for this upcoming season with Makenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood, which means that Miner will probably get very limited time with the Avs, if the NHL tandem stays healthy." -Shelton

Miner held his own with the Avalanche last season, but his sub .900 save percentage showed he isn't NHL-ready yet. With Colorado's tandem set, he'll have more time to develop as the Eagles' starter this season, giving him a chance to build on last year's progress and continue growing into a reliable option for the future.
