All summer long we have been discussing the lack of depth the Colorado Avalanche have on their bottom two forward lines. Fortunately, Gavin Brindley could be just what the Avalanche need on their roster.

The forward was acquired during the Charlie Coyle trade, and he may finally be ready to make an impact in the NHL.

Gavin Brindley could be the difference maker for the Avalanche this season.

Nestor Quixtan of Mile High Sticking recently reported on the possibility of Brindley being the x-factor for the Avalanche this season.
"Beyond that, there could be some surprises. One of those surprises could be an unexpected prospect who could make the team out of camp. That prospect is Gavin Brindley. Brindley, as you may recall, came over from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the Charlie Coyle-Miles Wood trade. The Blue Jackets drafted the 20-year-old in the second round of the 2023 draft." -Quixtan

Brindley's career up until this point has been disappointing. The Blue Jackets traded him due to his lack of performance so far.
"Last season, he played 52 games for the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL, scoring six goals and 17 points. That's certainly underwhelming, but not enough to condemn Brindley as a bust. Still, the Avalanche feel there might be something there with Brindley. While he's an undersized forward (5'9», 168 pounds), he's the type of player who could provide some grit and plenty of talent." -Quixtan

Despite his lack of success it is still too early to call him a bust, and if he plays on a solid team like the Avalanche, it could be the spark he needs to take his game to the next level. He is also in the last year of his contract to add to the desperation of producing.
With how gruelling the season will be as already mentioned in past reports, the Avalanche are going to need all the depth they can find. There will be injuries and players will get tired with how the schedule is set up this season.
Brindley is exactly what the Avalanche need; a gritty player who could eat up good minutes, while adding some skill on the offensive side as well.
We will know shortly once the preseason starts if Brindley is finally ready to get over the hump and become an NHL starter.
