GM Chris McFarland earned a compliment from Jared Bednar after the Avalanche's 5-1 dusting of the Dallas Stars, as he revitalized the lineup with trades that gave them the depth needed, including talent from the Boston Bruins.

The Colorado Avalanche solidified their dominance on the ice last night as they won Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Dallas Stars.
Jared Bednar recognized GM Chris McFarland's effort to revitalized a banged up lineup that was missing Captain Gabe Landeskog, amongst other Avalanche talent.
They started with the removal of the beloved forward Mikko Rantanen from the lineup while acquiring Martin Necas and Jack Drury from the Carolina Hurricanes.
Later, they'd add Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood.
McFarland wouldn't stop as he'd make a trade with multiple teams to add depth down the middle, including Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle, to add some playoff experience that was lacking in the lineup.
Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey would be added in March, along with Erik Johnson, who won a Stanley Cup with the team in 2022.
The team would turnover a lot of its former talent along the way, mainly depth pieces and prospects in order to stay competitive.

Which after last night, seems like it was worth it considering Bednar and the team wiped the floor with Peter DeBoer's Stars last night.
Of those new arrivals, Charlie Coyle, Martin Necas, and Jack Drury would all add a point in the 5-1 thrashing of the Stars.
As always, in order to remain competitive you must give up futures, and top-prospects and for teams like the Edmonton Oilers, and Florida Panthers this shouldn't look strange to your eyes.
