According to a trusted NHL insider, the Colorado Avalanche remain one of the top contenders to land Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby, keeping fans and analysts buzzing over the potential blockbuster move that could shake up the league.
Sidney Crosby can still land in Colorado.
Elias Edmonson from Habs Fanatics writes that after recent comments from Crosby and his agent Pat Brisson, including a notable interview with Pierre LeBrun, trade rumours surrounding the superstar have begun to swirl once again.
"There's been a lot of talk about the Montreal Canadiens and the Colorado Avalanche as potential destinations for #87 in the event of a trade, but are these truly the two teams that would be favorites to acquire Crosby? According to the well-known Chris Johnston (from TSN), absolutely!" -Edmonson
It's reasonable to assume that both the Canadiens and Avalanche would be the primary targets should a trade involving Crosby materialize.
We has our suspicions, but seeing a reputable source like Chris Johnston openly confirm it is something else entirely.
"I think you're right to have the Canadiens and Avalanche as the teams first in mind of where he might go, but I don't think the list will end there, if he ever gets there; he's not there yet" -Johnston
This confirms that our thinking was correct, the Canadiens and the Avalanche are still indeed at the top of the list to acquire Crosby, making the potential trade scenario all the more exciting.
This story is sure to generate plenty of discussion in the coming months, particularly if the Penguins struggle early in the upcoming season.
