The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to undergo significant changes before next season begins, as several core players are set to hit free agency, potentially leading to notable roster turnover.

The most significant name is star forward Mitch Marner, who's projected to command a substantial contract this offseason.

Utah Mammoth leading chase for NHL's top free agent this offseason.

Matt Levine from Athlon Sports writes that while plenty of teams will be interested in acquiring Marner, only a select few will have the cap space to make it happen. Among them are the Utah Mammoth, a team that may be eyeing a manor statement move this offseason.
"NHL insider James Mirtle of The Athletic believes that the Mammoth should consider going after Marner this offseason." -Levine

Here's what Mirtle wrote in a recent article...
"The Mammoth fell just short of a wild-card berth this season, and a big reason was that their offense couldn't keep up with most of the playoff teams. Utah finished 21st in scoring despite Clayton Keller's having a career year (90 points). They have a lot of intriguing prospects coming, a lot of cap space and aren't far from being a playoff team routinely. Marner would put them over the top." -Mirtle

After narrowly missing the playoffs last season, Utah is set to begin its official year as the Mammoth. Landing a star like Marner would not only boost their on-ice performance but could also be a game-changer in building the franchise's popularity and identity.
"Marner dropped 27 goals and 75 assists this season, so his production could help this young team get over the hump. Pairing him alongside Clayton Keller would form a dynamic duo and give the fans in Utah something to fully cheer about." -Levine

If Marner is seeking a lower-pressure market after years under Toronto's spotlight, Utah could offer the perfect fit. With the Mammoth appearing poised to shake things up this offseason, Marner might just be the key piece they need to elevate their game.
