The hockey world is left reeling as former Colorado Avalanche star Mikko Rantanen makes a serious push to surpass Jason Robertson's historic record while suiting up for the Dallas Stars this season.

Mikko Rantanen was initially traded to the Carolina Hurricanes last season before quickly landing with the Dallas Stars.

Mikko Rantanen poised to shatter records in Dallas.

Brian Sweet from Blackout Dallas writes that Robertson set the NHL ablaze with the first-100 season in Stars' history during 2022-23, showcasing sheer dominance on the ice. But with Rantanen now in Dallas following his brief stint in Carolina, that record could already be at risk.
A proven goal-scorer with back-to-back 100-point seasons under his belt, Rantanen looks poised to chase a record of his own thus upcoming season.
"Robertson razzled and dazzled as he lit the NHL ablaze during that season. However, we do have to look at the possibility that Rantanen could destroy his 100-point season record and set a new milestone in Stars' history.

Many fans believe that Robertson's record will remain intact; however, I'm not so sure about how good Rantanen is. He's the type of player who will destroy any record. That's how good an elite player Rantanen is." -Sweet

Rantanen could easily topple Robertson's 2022-23 record. A cold-blooded scorer, he knows how to attack the net and pick his spots, making him constant threat, just ask anyone who faced him in Colorado.
"While I don't think Rantanen will dethrone Robertson's record next season, I wouldn't be surprised by the end of his contract with the Stars if he does. Rantanen is that kind of player, and Robertson should count his blessings that his historic season remains intact by the end of Rantanen's contract." -Sweet

Robertson is a talented NHL player, but Rantanen looks poised to smash the 100-point mark at least once, or even twice, during his eight seasons with the Stars.
