The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars meet for Game 1 tonight, as Head Coach Jared Bednar gave us an insight into the intensity in the locker room, cooler heads will not prevail, as Mikko Rantanen's presence adds some extra gravitas to the series.
The
Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars will meet tonight at 7:30 PM at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The Stars will have home ice advantage in Game 1 of the 1st-round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Tonight, the
Avalanche will have to contend with a 2-4 playoff series record against the Dallas Stars, a Central Division rival.
In addition to the intensity the Avalanche will have to bring to the ice tonight, they will face Mikko Rantanen, who was traded in the midst of failed contract negotiations earlier in the season.
It remains nothing but business tonight, as Jared Bednar and the Avalanche want to put themselves ahead of the Stars with a Game 1 win.
Bednar issued a statement on the Avalanche's outlook on Game 1:
The Avalanche won two of their three-game series against the Stars, and will have to bring the same attitude that brought them a 2-1-0 record against Rantanen and the Stars this year.
During the trade deadline, they acquired
Brock Nelson and
Charlie Coyle in order to give the Avalanche the help needed to push deep into the playoffs.
Neither Coyle nor Nelson is unaccustomed to the playoffs and knows what it takes to win.
The question is whether or not the Avalanche can turn the series around in their favor with a win tonight.
