You cannot win in the NHL without good leaders who create a winning culture for the younger players. Luckily for the Colorado Avalanche, they have captain Gabriel Landeskog to take care of that for them.

Landeskog is finally in full health and ready for a new season with the Avalanche.

Gabriel Landeskog's captaincy is arguably the best in Avalanche history.

Graham Tiedtke of Mile High Sticking recently highlighted the leadership Gabriel Landeskog brings to the Avalanche, noting that even before the season starts, he's already mentoring the team's up-and-coming players.
"On Wednesday, it was reported that 2024 seventh-round draft pick Nikita Prishchepov leaned on Landeskog during morning skate, asking him «a lot» of questions." -Tiedtke

Landeskog's brief stint with the Colorado Eagles ahead of his NHL return allowed him to spend time with many of the team's prospects, and his advice, when he gives it, is almost always valued.
"I believe that Landeskog's guidance could also help in terms of player confidence as the younger players look to try and make a name for themselves and try to stick with the Avalanche. I don't know how much room there is for some of the younger players, but at some point during the season, Eagles players will be called up. Landeskog's guidance could help those players keep their feet under them and be comfortable in the Avalanche's system." -Tiedtke

Landeskog's pedigree is up there with the greatest captains in Avalanche history, but also in league history.
"He obviously has missed being a part of the team and he's showing why they named him the youngest captain in NHL history when he was just 19 years and 286 days old. That record was broken by Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers." -Tiedtke

Landeskog is not just an exceptional leader, he's an ambassador for the game and the NHL. His return was celebrated not only by Avalanche fans but by hockey fans everywhere.
While we hope he enjoys many more years on the ice, the Avalanche would be wise to keep him involved in the organization after retirement, perhaps in the front office
