On June 17th, Aaron Schneekloth took the next step in his career by joining the Seattle Kraken as an assistant coach in the NHL.
A true icon in Northern Colorado,
Schneekloth spent the past 19 years with the organization, contributing both as a player and a coach.
Schneekloth proves he doesn't need the Avalanche to win.
Brennan Vogt from Mile High Hockey writes that Schneekloth played a key role in bringing three championships to Loveland, one during his playing days and two more behind the bench as a coach.
"Schneekloth has his number 23 hanging in the rafters in Loveland, along with four other players. He worked his way through the record books for the Eagles, playing the second most games in franchise history (382). As a defenseman, Schneekloth also put up the points. He sits fifth in the franchise for all-time points with 356 and fourth in assists with 245." -Vogt
Success came quickly for Schneekloth as a coach. After three seasons as an assistant, he took over as head coach in 2016-17 and immediatrely made an impact, leading the Colorado eagles to back-to-back Kelly Cup championships.
His leadership helped pave the way for the team's move up to the American Hockey League, where he stayed on as an assistant under head coach Greg Cronin for five seasons.
"Coach Schneekloth will not have any problems at any level he coaches at. He approaches all his players as not just members of the team, but as young men learning life lessons. It is for this reason that Schneekloth has more compassion for the players under him." -Vogt
He's battled his way up through the ranks and knows exactly what it takes to succeed at every level. That's why former players like Schneekloth often make the best coaches. They've lived it, earned it, and lead with that experience.
