Former Colorado Avalanche star Ryan O'Reilly received some shocking news after Canada's final preliminary game against Sweden on Tuesday.

The game marked an extremely special milestone for the Team Canada forward, who was also awarded a gift from his teammates and organization following Canada's 5-3 win.

The former Avs forward set an incredible milestone on Tuesday passing Ryan Smyth for the most games played by a Canadian at the World Championship. O'Reilly has played in 62 international games wearing Canada's colours.
O'Reilly was gifted a special Team Canada jersey with the number "62" printed on the back to mark his incredible achievement. TSN also posted a special team photo where he is seen with his teammates sporting the jersey and a gold coloured helmet.

The Varna, Ontario native registered 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) in Canada's 7 preliminary games at the IIHF World Championship in Stockholm, Sweden.
O'Reilly received the Player of the Game award for Canada in their 2-1 shootout loss to Finland in Monday's game after scoring this beautiful shorthanded goal late in the 2nd period.
