Former Colorado Avalanche standout Jimmy Vesey now faces an uncertain future as he navigates a surprising and surprising shift to the KHL in his professional hockey career.
Vesey, 32, is reportedly exploring opportunities in the KHL following Colorado's decision not to offer him a new contract.

Daria Tuboltseva from RG.org reports that SKA St. Petersburgh is currently the leading contender to sign Vesey, with additional interest from Ak Bars Kazan, Dinamo Minsk, and China's Kunlun Red Star.
"Jimmy has been asking plenty of questions about life in the KHL and appears to be giving serious thought to the offers coming from Europe's top league," a source close to Vesey told RG.
Vesey started the 2024-25 season with the Rangers, recording six points in 33 games before being traded to the Avalanche on March 1. He added two points in 10 games with Colorado, but the team opted not to re-sign him for next season.
"A Harvard University graduate, Vesey had two stints with the Rangers, the team where he began his NHL career in 2016. Over 626 games with the Rangers, Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche, he has scored 101 goals and collected 194 points." -Tuboltseva
Originally selected 66th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2012 NHL Draft, Vesey chose to complete four seasons at Harvard, where he was a Hobey Baker Award finalist in both 2015 and 2016.
After his rights were traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2016, Vesey began his NHL journey. Now, his next contract could take his overseas, with SKA St. Petersburg, led by Detroit Red Wings Igor Larionov, emerging as the top contender for his services.
