Former Avalanche fan favourite shipped out to divisional rival in massive blockbuster trade

Andre Burakovsky was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks by the Seattle Kraken on Saturday in exchange for Joe Veleno.
The 30-year-old forward recorded 37 points this season with the Kraken, tallying 10 goals and 27 assists over 79 games.

A two-time Stanley Cup champion, winning with the Washington Capitals in 2018 and the Colorado Avalanche in 2022,
Burakovsky was originally drafted 23rd overall by the Washington Capitals in 2013.
Over his NHL career, he's totalled 387 points (153 goals, 234 assists) in 696 regular-season games with the Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, and Kraken, along with 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 93 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
Burakovsky has two years left on the five-year, $27.5 million contract (with an AAV of $5.5 million) that he signed with Seattle on July 13, 2022.

Veleno, a 25-year-old forward, recorded 17 points (8 goals, 9 assists) across 74 games this season with the Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. After being traded to Chicago on March 7, he added seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 18 games with the Blackhawks.
Drafted 30th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2018 NHL Draft, Veleno has totalled 81 points (38 goals, 43 assists) in 306 career NHL games between the Red Wings and Blackhawks.
He is entering the final year of a two-year, $4.55 million contract (AAV of $2.275 million) that he signed with Detroit on July 19, 2024.
