Hughes clearly made a smart move by steering clear of that path and sidestepping such a huge trade.

Kyrou, the 27-year-old 196-pound winger was selected 35th overall in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Blues.
In 416 NHL games, he has accumulated 332 points, including 150 goals, and last season notched 70 points over 82 games. Kyrou is signed through 2031 with an $8.125 million annual cap hit, giving him a strong, long-term contract.
