The Colorado Avalanche's playoff history with the Dallas Stars is troubling, and the Stars hold a 4-2 lead over the Avalanche in playoff series wins.

The Colorado Avalanche need to win this series, not only for themselves but to gain a foothold over the Dallas Stars. The Stars have been a rival in the Central Division for some time, as they've played six playoff series against one another.
At the moment, the Stars own the series lead 4-2, and this season, the Avalanche could course-correct if they win just the 1st-round.
If we go back to the very beginning, the Avalanche has a record of 19-18 in playoff games against the Stars. Their record away is surprisingly better than at home, with 11-8 away, compared to 8-10 at home.
If anything, this shows that theAvalanche have been a team that has been better on the road.
Against the Stars this season, the Avalanche has a good enough record to come out on top if they play their best hockey.
During the regular season, the Avalanche went 2-1-0, with a .667 percentage against Peter DeBoer's Stars. The Avalanche had good luck scoring, as they scored 13 goals in the 3-game series, with 4.33 GF/G giving them a greater chance at defeating Matt Duchene and the Stars each time they met up per Hockey Reference.
If Jared Bednar can continue to keep the streak going and his best players running hot, the Avalanche could find a way to win this series and put themselves in line to win a Stanley Cup.
