Just moments before the game began against the Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche, a unexpected roster change was made.
Recently the Colorado Avalanche have been testing the waters on what lines will work after the new additions they made at the NHL trade deadline, and the past couple of games, Martin Necas haas been on the second line with Valeri Nichushkin and Brock Nelson, but seems like tonight they will be changing that.
Just before the game, the Colorado Avalanche revealed their lines for the game, and showed that Necas will be back on the top line with Artturi Lehkonen and Nathan MacKinnon.
Drouin will drop back down to the second line with Martin Necas getting put back on the top line.
The Avalanche also revealed that Kiviranta will be back on the third line with Charlie Coyle and Ross Colton. This was a very effective line for the Avalanche before Kiviranta went down with an injury.
Tonight the Avalanche are kicking off a three-game road trip, and can pick up some valuable points if they are able to win all three games.
They currently sit 8 points behind the Dallas Stars and if they are able to catch that Dallas Stars and pass them in the standings, it could be huge as it would result in the Avalanche having home ice advantage.
Having home ice advantage could play a massive role in who wins a series, and if the Avalanche could find a way to pass the Stars, it would definitely go a long way.
