After missing the last couple NHL seasons, Jonathan Toews is reportedly eyeing a return, and the Colorado Avalanche are among the teams keeping a close eye on the former Chicago Blackhawks captain.
NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed on Amazon's Sports On Prime Canada broadcast Thursday that the Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Winnipeg Jets, are all potential landing spots for veteran center Toews as he prepares to make to NHL return.

Evan Doerfler from Yahoo Sports writes that the three-time Stanley Cup champion last suited up in the 2022-23 season, tallying 15 goals and 31 points over 53 games. After stepping away from hockey to focus on his battle with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, Toews has resumed skating, reportedly returned to his playing weight, and now appears posed for a potential NHL comeback.

As one of the NHL's deepest and most competitive rosters, the Colorado Avalanche could present Toews with a prime opportunity to chase one final Stanley Cup.
During the 2024-25 season, the Avalanche bolstered their roster with several notable additions, including forwards Charlie Coyle, Brock Nelson, Jack Drury, and Martin Necas; defenseman Ryan Lindgren; and goaltenders MacKenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood.
A major highlight was the long-awaited return of captain Gabriel Landeskog, who rejoined the lineup in Game 3 of the first-round playoff series against the Dallas Stars after being sidelined for three seasons with a knee injury.
