It was announced today that Colorado Avalanche star forward Brock Nelson was invited to the USA Hockey Orientation Camp for the Winter Olympics before the NHL season gets underway.

The 33-year-old veteran was the only player on the Avalanche to get invited to the USA camp.

Brock Nelson set to join star studded roster at USA Olympic camp.

Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now broke the news that Avalanche veteran forward Brock Nelson will be heading to Plymouth Michigan for USA orientation camp for this years winter games. While Nelson has represented his country several times, this would be his first Olympic Games.
"Nelson is among 44 players invited to the camp ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Aside from Matthew Tkachuk, every member of Team USA from the 4 Nations Face-Off will be present." -Deen

This adds to the busy summer Nelson has had, first inking a three year deal worth an AAV of $7.5million, and now potentially making the Olympic roster.
"Nelson is the only Avs player attending USA's camp. The 33-year-old centerman had previously represented his country at World Juniors, the World Champions, and 4 Nations. He was not part of the Olympics roster the last time NHL players were there in 2014. This likely would be his only opportunity to play at the winter games. At 4 Nations, Nelson did not record a point in four appearances, while averaging 14:23 per game in a depth role." -Deen

Nelson scored six goals and tallied 13 points in 19 games with the Avalanche. Colorado aimed for a championship but was stopped by Dallas, their Central Division rivals. Although Nelson didn't score any goals in the seven-game series, he contributed four assists for the team.
Nelson adds grit, physicality, leadership and good two-way play to an already stacked USA lineup. The Americans will be looking to get some revenge on Nathan MacKinnon and team Canada after their Four Nations final loss when they hit the ice in Italy.
