Avalanche rival announces heartbreaking news about former head coach

The Colorado Avalanche's division rival, the Vegas Golden Knights, have just announced heartbreaking news as former head coach Gerard Gallant is reportedly set to leave North American hockey behind to join the KHL in Russia.
Gallant served as the head coach who guided the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final during their historic first season in the NHL.

Jacob Walters from Vegas Hockey Knight writes that according to Pierre LeBrun, the former Golden Knights head coach is set to join the KHL, with an official announcement about his new team expected next week.
Gallant enjoyed a strong run with the Golden Knights, compiling a 118-75-20 record over three seasons and a 16-11 playoff record. Most recently, he spent two seasons coaching the New York Rangers, achieving a 99-46-19 record and guiding the team to two playoff appearances.
"If there was thing that stood out with Gallant, it was his grating personality. He was hardened as nails and got incredibly short with players. It rubbed his own guys the wrong way and was the catalyst for him getting canned in 2019-20." -Walters
Gallant was criticized for not adjusting his line-ups when opponents adapted, a flaw that was evident during the Stanley Cup Final against the Washington Capitals and again in 2019 against the San Jose Sharks.
"This was previously mentioned as a sticking point and it cost him the Rangers job, too. Not being able to adjust when other teams like the Devils and the Hurricanes make necessary tweaks will hurt any head coach." -Walters
It's unfortunate to see the former Golden Knights head coach heading to a league abroad, but work is work, and a paycheque is a paycheque. At least it's something, rather than nothing.
